Beckham's Misjudged move to LA rightly hampers his Career

In Shanghai this week, during LA Galaxy’s three-city Asian tour, David Beckham once again spoke about his desire to win his place back in the England side and get his hands on just one more international cap.
I have to take a deep breath, at this point, and regain my composure.
I feel so much anger and resentment whenever I hear him talk about it that I want to reach into the TV screen and slap him around a bit, whilst shouting ‘Greedy, greedy, David.’ For someone so desperate to play at the highest level of the game his move to LA Galaxy last year was more than puzzling - it was downright stupid.
Of course his coffers will swell and his celebrity will reach even new highs, as he struts around Beverly Hills in ripped jeans and trendy shades, but his standing as an international footballer is now nothing more than tabloid fodder and I, for one, sincerely hope he never reaches that magical milestone of 100 caps.
Beckham might still be a very good player and could possibly still do a job for England, but if you’re Fabio Capello, how would you know? From watching him stroll out for a team that would struggle in England’s third tier?
Let’s also be absolutely clear about one thing… he had a choice. Beckham could have written his own ticket to almost any club in Europe, where he would have still been tested and would have been able to prove his worth to the England management team. Alas, it seems the attraction of partying with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in Hollywood was just too damn appealing.
It annoys me even more that Beckham has always struck me as a genuinely nice guy; attention-seeking, vain, and a bit simple, yes, but nice nonetheless. When he speaks to the press about the possibility of getting his England spot back you can practically see the desire and willingness in his face, but actions certainly speak louder than words and he has chosen a path that leads to riches but not quality football. I can’t help but think he has been advised very poorly indeed.
If Beckham never plays again for England, I honestly believe that one day he will look back on his decision to move to the US when he did with deep regret and wish that the crown adorned by a hundred diamonds, atop his head, was instead a blue cloth cap adorned by just three lions.
